Parking Sensor Problems

Wise ones,
I have a 2005 TDV6 HSE Auto and during the bout of snow, the front parking sensors started to give a false indication as they got covered in snow! I cleared the snow and all was well until the next time they got covered!
Not really a problem there as I turned them off, as the constant alarm was sending me crazy! also it proved they work!
Now the snow has gone, well for the moment anyway, I find on start up that the dash gives a message like Front Parking Sensor failed, or something like that together with the alarm going beep beep. The car is in the garage overnight so reasonably dry.
After a short distance the sensors seem to work OK and stay working until the next time I have parked the car and switch on the ignition. Now it doesn't happen every time which is the annoying thing as I could then trace a fault.
.I don't want to buy 4 sensors if I don't have to! The inner ones are different to the outer ones so the minimum I would have to buy is 2 if only to find that only one is faulty.
Question is will a Faultmate be able to determine which sensor is faulty? My reasoning is that snow/water has got into one sensor and it intermittently goes faulty.
Ta in advance,
Ian

All the sensors are the same ... Just different bezels on the outer / inner

Yes the faultmate can determin which sensor / sensors are at fault

Now that's interesting and I wouldn't wish to dispute you Wiggs but there are different part numbers for front and Rear as well as the front inner and outer!
I quote: YBD500311LML Front outer, YBD500310PMA front inner.
Rears are all the same YBD500301PMA.
These are the sensors only and not the bezel by the way.
Now if know for sure that they are the same then why are they different prices?

Good news is that Faultmate can tell me which one(s) is(are) faulty, excuse the pun!

I've just had the same problem with mine.

I checked the loom and connectors etc. to no avail.

All 4 sensors were 'ticking', hence no obvious one at fault.

However, the 'ticking' was noticeably quieter than the rears which were ok.

In the end, I got a set of 4 from a main dealer off a well known auction site...... genuine LR, £60 inc. postage.

I reckoned by the time I had got mine diagnosed, and then replaced at least one, with travelling, waiting, fuel etc., this was to me a cheaper option.

Arrived next day, bumper off, fitted all 4, bumper back on and worked fine ever since. Less than an hour to complete, using head torch in dark!!!

The ones which came were for the rear bumper, but fit and work perfectly at the front. Only minor difference is that the centre 2 are black, not colour coded. However with mine being dark grey, they are hardly noticeable.

Hope this helps!
