I believe there's a need for Parent & kids parking spaces. Not to make life easier for the parents but to protect the other cars around. It's very difficult to get a small child out of a car with the door only half open. So if there are no wider spaces available, the number of car park dings will increase as the Mummy struggles to get the child out of the car whilst battering the car in the next space with her door.
Having said that, they do not need to be right outside the door of the supermarket.Too much intellectual firepower can damage your common sense.

I parked in a parent and child space yesterday as there were no 'safe' spaces elsewhere and I have to say I felt very guilty .... disapproving looks of disgust from the mummys all round
Were they slummy mummys, yummy mummys or just stuck up mummys ?
