I realised as well that there is not left/right parking light option as i have on my other cars

No idea whether this works (but posting it on t'internet means it must be true...), but have you tried leaving the side lights on and then using the indicator to the left or right, as required?
This used to operate a single parking light on my Audi...

On my BMW/Vw, I usually just hit the indicator left/right to set respective parking light on. Haven't tried with the parking lights on first though. Will give it a go. Anyone else tried this yet?
