You may have seen from my other post that I can’t collect my 55 plate HSE D3 because the Parking Brake unit is faulty, and the new one supplied by Land Rover is also faulty.
Can somebody fill me in on these things please, what does the ‘Unit’ consist of, and has there been any updates so my car will have a modified/better part at the end of this?
Thanks

Nasher - run a search for EPB as well as Park Brake...then open a bottle of wine (actually you'll probably need two...), sit back and read...park brake fault is probably the most common fault...
And the answer to your other question of modified/better part is...NO! The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...
Club "yes, I too have had the EGR's replaced..."
Club "yes, I too have had the compressor replaced..."
Club "yes, I too once had the car at the dealer for a couple of weeks nearly 4 weeks over 4 weeks...5 weeks"
Club "yes, I too have had EPB failure..."
Club "yes, I too get mysterious bings and bongs..."

This is beginning to worry me as my drive is very steep, and at times I'll need to hold my boat/Trailer on the park brake whilst I jump out and put blocks behind the trailer wheels.
When I test drove the car there was a Red and a Yellow warning light showing on the dash the whole time, the dealer told me not to worry as they knew there was a fault and would fix it.
As I don't actually have the car yet I can't look up in the manual what the two lights mean. I'm assuming the Red shows the brake is on, but it didn't drive like it was on, and the Yellow shows a fault.

I would insist on trying the boat/trailer combo on the drive before I commit to buy. I run an RYA powerboat centre in Lincoln and the only issues I have with my EPB is when sitting on an incline dropping our power boat down our launch ramp. I often get the screaming sound and the brake locks on when I try and 'hold' the boat while jumping out to release the winch etc
It is a pain in the wotsit and nothing we have done (including having the switch pack replaced, cleaning the brake, hitting it with a hammer etc etc) has made it any better.
It only seems to scream when under load on the incline, during normal use it is OK.... beware!

hadn't thought about what would happen on a slip when launching and recovering the boat single handed
Oh god, have I brought a heap of trouble for myself
Does anyone have any good experiance in this situation?
Specifically holding a load like 3tns of boat and trailer on a hill like a slipway.

How about 2 tonnes of Mastercraft ski boat? Mine works OK and I have P(ark) on the box as a secondary brake.
Not the best design in the world (understatement) but it seems some are OK and some are not. No real rhyme or reason from what I can make out but ignore the LR schpiel about no servicing requirement. It's a partly mechanical thing which does wear and therefore needs cleaning & adjusting every so often.
