I suppose it could be a local problem, but I doubt it. I am certain its occured recently, because I washed and waxed the D3 before christmas and it was not there then. I have been all over the country since.

I am hoping to arrange some work near to you Ken, I'll pm you when I get the order, I might know something by the end of next week. Thumbs Up

Gareth, i had similar with a BMW of mine... a scoffold lorry unloaded said scaffold 100mtrs up the road from where the car was parked, bit of wind and an overnight rain shower....couple of weeks later i noticed a film of fine rust particles all over the car Evil or Very Mad

Hope its not that as no matter how much i cleaned,,,the stuff was everywhere Big Cry

I'm not very big on this detailing lark... But would someone tell me what a clay bar is and what it does?

I usually just wash with 'wash and wax' and VERY occasionally wax and polish the whole car. Just bought some Mer from Costco which seemed to bring it up a treat.

AVE,

Here you can find a good explanation of what a claybar is and what it does: http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/guides_clean.html

.....or maybe something Stockport Council put on the roads

Just a thought...there is a factory very near the M60 through road very much in the centre of Stockport that makes Colour pigments........coincidently I happened to be in there last week on a plant visit.........although they have very good systems for containing process extraction....you could see the plant did what it did from the outside....certainly marks cars in the vicinity (colours - Red, Yellow, Orange) & it doesn't wash of easily....
 BREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
Founder: Dipsticks-R-Us Inc
D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.
