P2290 and/or P117D Limp Mode under light load

FML I want to burn this thing....

Goes into limp mode with engine/gearbox/suspension lowering etc. Ignition cycle clears it.

Fine if I use the accelerator pedal as an on/off switch and batter it everywhere. Only does it when trying to maintain a constant speed. ie 50 mph on a flat and then hitting a slight incline. If I am at say 10% throttle to hold 50 mph on the flat and as I start a slight incline go to 15% throttle (to maintain speed) that's when it happens.

Started a few weeks ago and was intermittent and then got real regular so decided to take action.

Fault code scan initially gave P117D. Fault for flow control valve on pump.

Changed fuel filter. No better. Brake light switch and bulbs with genuine/Osram. No better.

Took to garage who checked wiring from ecm to pump valves all ok. Injector leak back test shows nice even balance. They pulled HPFP and found metal swarf so replaced HPFP and LPFP as well as cleaning out the tank and fresh fuel.

It was ok for 50 miles then boom, did it again.

Investigation leads back to HPFP, maybe faulty so another one on from a different manufacturer. Still does it. They also tried a fuel pressure sensor.

Now I get either P117D or P2290.

HELP !

Was the fuel filter changed for a quality unit? Also, have the pressure/flow from the LPFP checked.

Justin

Did you get to the bottom of this? I am having the exact same issue and being led down the replacement LPFP route.

Thanks

Stephen
