P062E Fuel Injector Driver Circuit Performance (bank 2)

Hi All,

I have a constant P062E Fuel Injector Driver Circuit Performance (bank 2) DTC
I can clear all DTC's but this one recurs instantly on a ignition recycle.
Was on a long distance route when suddenly got multiple errors and audio ding sounds, car shut down and has refused to restart. Engine failure message in IPC on turn on.. Since then car wont start, swings fine but P062E is constant.
Any ideas PLEASE!

Solution

So I thought I should give some feedback incase someone ends up with the same issue.

I had some different 'experts' come and look. Most said that it seemed to be fuel pump related, low pressure at the schrader valve etc.
Others went on about cam position sensors, basically thumb suck ideas, they all wanted to take the van with them.

So the solution was as follows, I disconnected all my injectors from bank 2, this is the left side of the motor if seated in the car.
Then tried to start and it tried to fire up.
Connected the injectors between ignition cycles till I found the faulty injector. It was the injector nearest my battery box and not easy to remove.
I tested the terminals of the injector again, this time for short to ground, which I found.
Ended up finding a used injector at a breaker in my area. Instead of removing the whole injector, I just removed the top electrical part and swapped that bit out in situ.
Had to fashion a spanner to 25mm and bend it to roughly 45 degrees to be able to remove and refit the replacement part.

Car running as before. Hope this helps others, had me stumped for quite a while.

Great work to solve and get hold of a replacement ! Thumbs Up

If it were me I'd be looking to get the rest of the injectors changed to avoid any further issues !
I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

H nigethecat,

Appreciate your reply. Will definitely consider replacing them all.
Is it common for the electronics of these injectors to fail so randomly?
Come to think of it, there were some signs of an underlying issue.
I did have on two occasions, before this occurred, where the car also shut down with tumbling errors, but on both those occasions a hard reset, (battery disconnect) seemed to resolve the problem.
After the second time it occurred, it restarted very roughly, should have been an indication I guess.
The first time it did it, no DTC relating to injectors, so I just replaced the battery hoping that was it.
Was about 1000km between each time it happened.

As a 2009 (and not knowing the mileage) it's probably to be expected that things will start to randomly fail.. 13 years is a long time for any daily use item to last...

I would also assume that there's nothing in the history to suggest that the injectors have been replaced previously ? Keep checking the codes regularly and if anything doesn't clear (or returns straightaway) then it's often the pre-cursor to an issue...

Great place to own and drive a Discovery Thumbs Up
