P0501-81 vehicle speed sensor A range/performance |
|
My D4 will move forward and backward but as soon as you give it a little bit of throttle in either drive or reverse, it kicks out of gear and you can hear the transmission spinning. It’s as if the gearbox is confused about what it should be doing.
It all started after i pulled out of junction in normal driving mode.
Not sure if it also feels like its grabbing the brakes as well.
Fault code reader pulls up P0501-81 vehicle speed sensor A range/performance.
Any advice or guidance is much appreciated.

Six speed
D4 2010
TDV6 HSE
80k miles.
I have had a very costly few months with it.
I'm praying it's reasonable fix for once

first place to look would be the gear selector linkage on the side of the gearbox get someone to go through the selections whilst watching the cable underneath ,the cable should rotate on the link rod as it goes through its curve sweep selecting the gears not bending the selector cable as you check it please excuse any grammer/punctuation mistakes,i'm thick, thankyou

The alignment of the cable/rod looks fine.
I have taken apart my original gearbox pivot level arm set up.
Cleaned and greased everything up so that it works nice and smoothly.
I have also ordered a new gearbox lever pivot kit regardless (just waiting for it to arrive).
However, I still have my original problem with the gearbox that I posted.

I think I have found the problem, the nearside, outer CV joint has gone.
