P0488-72 (2F) Exhaust gas recirculation |
|
Hi, I have this code that will not clear and restricted performance.
Thought the 3.0 SDV6 egrs were trouble free
P0488-72 (2F) Exhaust gas recirculation throttle position control range/performance - Mechanical failure - actuator is stuck open
Looking at live values on IID both say 4% and don't change, which I guess is related to the restricted performance,ie it disables them?
Any ideas anyone, which of the valves it is?
Could this be the TSOV sensor, I have checked the actuator arm moves freely but there is also a sensor there?
Cheers,
Ian.

Hi
Did you get to the bottom of this. I had the same error code earlier. Has cleared now but doesn’t seem to be running quite right. MY12 D4 HSE Marmaris Teal

It is usually the throttle valve housing located at the top front of the engine on the air intake that causes this, but not for me!
Engine ECU fixed mine.

Thanks for the pointer on this. I’d also been occasionally experiencing the fluctuating revs when cruising at speed others have described. I’ve fitted the revised throttle body which seems to have rectified the issues.
I noticed the action on the butterfly valve is completely different. The original seems to have 4 steps where as the travel on the new one is smooth from fully closed to fully open.
Only thing bothering me now is the amount of water (presumably condensation) which was presant in the air box on the front of the throttle body...... MY12 D4 HSE Marmaris Teal

Faulty EGR on D4 is often traced to faulty throttle body . Thats why they always replace TB when doing the EGR . EGR on the D4 is thight , ask me how I know
