Overland and camping wheels and tires

I have a 2005 V8 which I've bought as a third car, will be used only for wild camping holidays and overlanding. It's currently in the UK and I'll bring it over to Norway in the spring. It will do motorway miles in between but it's mostly gravel tracks with off road tracks in the places I go in Norway. In the summer I will take 4 weeks either in the Pyrenees and into Portugal or down toward Georgia way. I intend to spend as little time as possible on tarmac when I get to the areas I'll be camping in.

At the minute I'm considering Pirelli AT plus or the less aggressive Pirelli AT's on the standard 19's.
I also thought about the Terrafirma steel 18's if they fit over the V8 brakes, tires undecided.
No lift and don't really intend to do that.

Anyone here have experience with these tires or wheels or overlanding tire choices in general? Lots of motorway miles to get to places followed by no tarmac/offroading for days makes it a bit tricky.

Thanks in advance for your help!

BFG A/T's for an overland/touring vehicle that will see a fair many of off-tar miles. Anything else would be a distant second.

Pirelli Scorpion ATR would seem to be a good choice, unless you need winter rating. Good reputation hereabouts as a robust tyre that stands up to use. Good tarmac manners too with better fuel economy / aquaplaning resistance than most ATs such as the Pirelli Scorpion AT+.

The BFG KO2 would be great if you can get a suitable 18inch rim.

Thanks gentlemen! This is a subject I'm not very well versed on.... as long as I'm not doing anything too stupid or extreme I should be good with the 19's and a relatively well respected AT then yes? No real need to drop to 18's?

Would you recommend something along the lines of maxtraxx as a back up/support regardless?
