Hi Dutycalls,

I've been told the 1st years road fund license jumps to £750 from April 1st, although 2nd years tax will revert to ?£435?. Sounds like a showroom tax in all but name. Others may provide more accurate responses!

no its worse than that, £405 goes to £950.

Also I am being told that LR are putting their prices up 1.5% in April....

Hi Mike, I stuck on the same options on you ( and a full size spare) - I've got a build date 5 March but dealer anticipates it will be built sooner. If it's built on that date dealer expects it about 22 March.

Is the TDV6 3.0 not rated at 244 g/km CO? - which would be Band L (£405 this year) which is £425 from April 2010 for renewal of tax disc or £750 if it is a first registration/disc.
I think it's the D4 2.7 which is in the highest band M in its auto form (270 g/km CO according to LR site) & that band will be £950 first year registration (£435 for renewals).

I have placed an order Tuesday for a HSE but not got a delivery date yet...

...am I going to regret not going for adaptive lights and side steps as both cte and mike have gone for them?

Just looked on DVLA website- for a 3 litre registered after April 1st it will be duty of £750 ( a 2.7 auto will be £950 ). £425 for subsequent years.

IMHO - YES you will regret not going for the adaptives! - as they can only be factory fitted and based on D3 spec may later become standard fitment. BUT, watch your delivery is not delayed with the road tax increase + any LR price increase.

Stick - I wasn't going to put on adaptives but the night we'd odered ours I did a journey across sweeping unlit A road and actually saw how much the swivelling bits were actually working on bends . Also did a pretty sharp slow speed turn in a poorly lit area and saw how useful the low speed fixed halogen lamps were in illuminating what I was turning into. In the end I came to the conclusion that I was going to miss them as they were something that made my current car special.

Hi Stick,

my logic with the steps was that today I have them on an X5 and need them when washing the car, and I'm not exactly short at 6 foot 2. The Disco is taller so I am wondering how other owners wash their cars (or perhaps I should be thinking LR's are tough and not meant to be cleaned!). Also, obviously having too much time to think about this, as the HSE has the sunroof so if the glass is dirty I would be able to see it.

Forgive my rambling, had a couple of beers (it is Friday!).

Carwyn,

Great minds think alike!

BTW - Do you know why the dealer thinks your car may be delivered early? I'd assumed the factory would be 100% busy meeting new reg orders.

Thank you all for your comments..

dealer still hasn't confirmed delivery date back to me - even though he said he would phone on Wednesday morning to confirm it! Is that what I should get used to from LR dealerships?

Anyway, if he says it is after April 1st then I will add adaptives, otherwise don't want to give him an excuse to miss March. As for the steps, I confess cleaning it really hadn't occurred to me but it is a good point about the sunroof! Bit of bird mess would be delightful. Also I currently take 4 bikes on the roof of my car, but the LR is a lot higher. Whether I could reach to get bikes up there I don't know. (I am 6ft 2in as well). Side Steps might help for that as well? £500 just to be able to wash the roof without stepladder seems a bit steep?
