Decided that I need to upgrade, I was offered a new in stock RR Aurobiog..... but when the price was explained to me that it was £300 less than a six figure sum, yes £99700 I thought how good value the Discovery HSE Lux is so I should be getting one at the beginning of April Happy Days

Hi all,
Thanks for all the replies so far. Still stuck on decisions but now need some urgent advice as my family/fiancee are no help whatsoever!
I've narrowed down my next purchase to one of the cars below - a bit of useful background, this car will eventually end up in Africa - so I need to pick the car that will last the longest, involve the least hassle (aside from knowing that I'm buying into LR so this is a bit of a loaded Q) and basically provide more bang for its buck!
Cars:
1. 2011 4.4TDV8 Vogue - 2 years old, 20k miles and apparently in great condition, but otherwise with only standard options
2. Brand new Disco4 XS with many extras (close to bringing it to HSE but not yet there)
Both are working out to approximately the same price after factoring in insurance, etc.
Would love some suggestions on which one I should really go for, especially from those owners that might have both (have also posted on ffrr.com to get their views) and know what it's like to look after each one
Need to put in one order or the other by tomorrow as Disco4 waiting lists are getting quite long!
Thanks again for helping this newbie!

thanks geoff. i see alot of people seem to have gone that route. however, think I'll give it a miss altogether as all heating options will be useless once the car goes to Africa. thanks for that tho.

Shalz,
We have a 2011 4.4TDV8 vogue FullFat and a 2012 Disco4 XS.
May need my flame jacket on but.....
FullFat is such a nice car to drive/be in. Comes standard with heated steering wheel and remote timed climate. If i was to travel a long distance the FullFat would be my choice.
I like my Disco for the large load space for the dogs, genuine utility vehicle and great for towing (prefer to tow with it than the FFRR). I did have a 4.2 SC FFRR before the disco and miss the feel of the car, reversing camera, heated steering wheel but not the fuel bill.
Reliability is always going to be a worry but I do think the LandRover have tried to made them more robust.
So, if you need to lug a lot of stuff, tow a lot and happy to up spec an XS go for the Disco.
Just don't test drive the 4.4TDV8 FFRR....I just think the engine really suits the car.
Right, I will get my jacket

You'll be needing a numberplate if you go for the D4 XS

Thanks to all for their input and advice. Agree with the plates. However I made the mortal mistake of test driving a 4.4 Vogue and fell straight in love. I can't fault the D4 either but it's just not the same. Plus I'm not in huge need of the space but more for a long range cruiser. I hope one day my wallet will allow me to own both too like some of you
