Options on RSE

I have had my D4 HSE for all of 2 days and I love it. Although my daughter is used to dvd entertainment which this car doesn't have.

I have read through all the info and comprehensive guides on this site and at first glance they are a little daunting. I do like the thought of the OEM stuff although I'm unsure of the look of the headrests and possibly the picture quality. Has any one compared the OEM screens to Alpine screens for picture quality? Does anyone know the actual resolution of the OEM screens?

Looking at the oem system:
Do you have to use to OEM screens or is the OEM output compatible with say, Alpine screens?
Who knows where to buy all the OEM components? Is there one particular supplier on here?
When going to the trouble of OEM RSE is the tv function much more extra work to fit?

Should I just fit Rosen headrests and save myself the bother?

Thanks all in advance Thumbs Up

Buy a Seagate Wireless Plus and an iPad.
It will allow her to watch movies and play games outside the car as well.
It will set you back just short of € 500 (1 ipad) which is probably less than a full RSE kit.

My 2 cents.

The LR RSE is good but very very expensive for what it is. In my last D4 I put the FL2 headrest screens and used an ipod for each screen, far cheaper and nearly as good as the installed RSE system, just need the balls to take a knife to the headrests to fit them.

I probably should have stated that I already have a pair of nearly new 7" alpine screens.

I have just won a pair of RRS front headrests locally on ebay. I'll pick them up and see what the screens will be like before deciding what to do.

Russel, when you say you used a ipad/ipod does that mean you just need an adaptor cable/lead or do these FL2 headrests have usb input?

I will try to find the post but the FL2 screens use the AUX panel in the back and you can then plug various items in there to play on the screens either together or diffrent on each screen.

Well I've bitten the bullet and ordered the alpine dvd changer to match the screens i've got. I figured I could just install one of these GVIF modules for the full system. What is the picture quality on the front screen when used like this? i.e. when playing dvd's

Could anyone tell me where the best switched live is to tap into. I read somewhere on here (I think it was the OEM system .pdf guide) that there is an 'ICE live' in the divers footwell, is this correct?

Thanks, Liam Thumbs Up

Got the screens fitted into RRS headrests when I had time over the last couple of days.

The stitching is wrong but some fabric dye will sort that. If all else fails I'll have to source different covers to match the disco.

The alpine 6 disc changer is to be delivered tomorrow so its just a case of wiring after that.

How do I get the sound into the car speakers though? Will a normal aux in take advantage of the logic7 system?
