What options can be retrofitted to a D4 GS? |
|
I was wondering if you guys had any idea of what can be retrofitted to a 2010 Disco 4 GS?
Specifically im quite interested in cruise control, but I understand this will mean a new steering wheel?
What about Xenons or DRL's? Does the GS come with DRL's of any description?

The Good News ...... You do not need a new steering wheel. TLO (the large one) will happily supply you with the switch bank & various people (eg. Geoff) here on the forum can enable it
The Bad News (possibly) ...... a lot of other things you can enable rely on having LR factory fit Satnav as you need the screen if you have satnav fitted you're lucky in a GS. Nick

Thanks for that, so how do you operate it without a steering wheel with the controls on?

The switches will cost approx £70 (variable depending on where you get them) & they can be easily retrofitted to the existing steering wheel. Once plugged in you just need someone with a faultmate or Autologic unit to 'enable' it.
The Large One supplied me with the switch bank, arrived in a couple of days. He is the man for any genuine parts at very competitive club prices.
I met Geoff at AJS Tyres as it was geographically convenient & it took him less than 15mins to get it working. Nick

Nick (aka The Large One) is the parts manager at Yeovil Land Rover. Search the forum, specifically 'Dealership & Sponsor Feedback', you'll find his name cropping up regularly & always with glowing praise
He can supply any genuine LR part & is always extremely competitive bordering on the ridiculously cheap Nick

Despite what has been said you can get DRL's enabled on a D4, you need somebody like Wiggs who is in Manchester but travels around. The dipped headlights are used as the DLR but it can be configured in a few ways. Also if you get the parts for the cruise control from Nick AKA TLO Parts Manager @ Yeovil Land Rover and fit them yourself Wiggs would be able to enable it for you Cheers Ian

This is a great post exactly what I was looking for, thank you!
With regards to the DLR, what im looking for is the fairy lights a la HSE. I can see the LED's in the headlamp (or am I mistaken) so is it just a case of activating them with a gizmo?
The cruise control thing i will get onto straight away, thanks!

I believe that the LED's on the GS headlights are fake but I may be wrong Nick

I believe Nick is right about the LED's being fake on everything apart from an HSE, however, even if they weren't fake you can't enable them as DRL's they will only operate as sidelights Cheers Ian
