I'd buy 2nd hand as I'm not that bothered about nice smells and zero miles.
When I bought my D3 I bought the lowest miles one I could find that was also an XS because I wasn't bothered about HSE's with buttons and sat Nav and 5 years on I've still never got into my car not knowing where I'm going ?
If I were buying now I'd be looking at 18 months to 2 years old less than 20k miles one owner NOT a demonstrator in green or grey ! Again an XS,
PX my D3, add cash on top to half the purchase price of the D4 and finance half the purchase price, I wouldn't consider warranty as I can't be arsed arguing about who's paying for what ?
That's what I would do, Only dead fish go with the Flow !

Thanks for the constructive reply Chalky,
I'm thinking used seems to be the better option after re working my figures last night after being offered 2.96 flat rate from the bank. This means I will be able keep the deposit low and keep the cash in the business.
I've always bought HSE but I will look into a XS as I too know how to read a map.
Also bit worried what residuals may be like when the D5 is released?
Cheers

It wasn't meant to be a sarcastic reply ref Nav,
The HSE was £12:5k more than the equivelant XS and that formed then and continues to form my decision making, the difference being the XS now is prob the HSE spec back then ?
As for residuals the D3 is down on price and in my opinion a bargain, that took quite a knock when the D4 came out, I think when the New Discovery comes out that will have a huge knock on effect to residuals. The technology involved in the current line up and chassis are the same it's just had a few tweeks,
Time will tell but I would still go for used Only dead fish go with the Flow !

Hi Chalky, didn't take the satnav comment the wrong way but you make a good point do I really need it?
What i'm thinking is buy used now and put my deposit down for the new Discovery and if business is good I can pay cash for it when its released or pass the slot on for a small remuneration.
Nearly everywhere I have research residuals the figure of 62% retained in the first three years seems to be the norm but I cant find much detail after from 3 to 6 years. I'm thinking perhaps %50 of the three year value or approx 5k a year?
Need to get my spread sheets out again, think I may ask the wife to shoot me and put me out of my misery. Java Black HSE, Alpaca Leather.

You could always try the old, figure out what you want, then make the figures fit
That's what I do to justify to SWMBO!! I'm to old to know everything......
D4 Gone over to the Dark Side (D5)
D3 gone ...... But now want one for knocking about! Is this a form of insanity?
