Opinion of black exterior + black interior

Anyone have the combo of Java black with Ebony interior? Do you like it or is it overwhelming at times? Too hot in the summer?

Reason I'm asking is we're lined up to buy a 2006 V6 Tonga Green/Alpaca next week, but I found a 2006 V8 Java Black/Ebony that has the Heavy Duty Package. The wife would prefer the contrast of the Alpaca interior, but the selection of 2006 vehicles with the Heavy Duty Package is almost non-existant in the US. I'm worried that if I don't get the Active Diff Lock with the Heavy Duty Package that it will always bother me.

Any opinions on the color combo would be appreciated.

I personally prefer dark car interiors.

It makes me feel closed in, comfy and cosseted.

Java + Ebony = cosy! Wink

I wanted the Java + Alpaca combo, but couldn't get one in time, so went black on black.

Having got it I'm very pleased with the choice (I would have been happy with either to be honest).

As I'd had many light coloured interiors I was happy to have the change.

cheers

simon

ps Would have liked leather too, but didn't want to spend the money. Cloth is nice to sit on, but leather looks nicer - IMHO.

What is in the Heavy Duty Pack ?

Also not having the rear diff is not a deal breaker when off road. Most of us here have not got it and personally I've not encountered anywhere I've not been able to go (lack of aggressive tyres apart).

no different really, always had silver cars with black leather, this time fancied a change so went with alpaca/java and am very pleased....would have been equally pleased with ebony though.

Hi James, I have black on black & it's quite sleek looking IMO Wink

As far as heating up, LRNA uses laminated glass technology on side, rear, & roof as standard on LR3 which reduces thermal sun effects by about 18F (and protects from UV rays). I also have window tint so don't have any 'hot box' problem here in Florida.

Gosh, this is really a hard decision. Now we're also considering a white V8 with Alpaca! Uggh. I'm supposed to be narrowing the search, not widening it. The good thing is that no matter what, we'll end up with a great-looking vehicle.

Thanks everyone for the input and photos. Even if the black is hotter, at least the one I'm looking at has rear a/c.

Here are the three choices we're now considering. The first number listed is the discounted price in dollars (dealer discount + factory cash + $1,500 coupon from LRNA). Cost is a factor since I'm rolling in some negative equity and making payments. It's hard to ignore the savings on the V6.

Thumbs Up It is what you really like best, black on black is too much for me unless you are going to use it as a hearse. I like stornoway grey and alpaca but realize not everyone does. So good luck whatever you get you will be pleased.

Wow Ken I'm lovin the black wheels. Bow down I was trying to envision what they'd look like with the Java. Now moving it from my thinking about list to my must have bits list.

I agree with fisherman, if the locking diff/fs spare is something you really want then go for it. The locking diff is one option you can't get after the fact really... Guess you have to weigh whether the options you really like (& will actually use) are worth the extra $6K. It'd be a tough choice for me over the V6 & black one, depending on budget.

Aside from the V8, the white doesn't seem to have much over the V6 to me - depends on how you like to drive Wink Keep in mind that gas mileage won't be hardly different with V6/V8. It would be sweet if you could knock them down another $2K on the Java!
