One week in - Body Roll Query
I love this car, have done about 300 miles and loved every minute of it
I am a little concerned about the body roll. Doing a reasonably fast corner (50mph plus) I find myself leaning around the car more than I did before in my ACE equipped Disco 2.
Mrs duck thinks the same as do 2 reasonably savvy passengers I took with me today, both of whom travelled in my previous Disco.
Not particularly concerned about this but wonder if that is normal, or if there is something else I should be doing.2008.5 D3 HSE, Stornoway, Ebony

I find the handling to be much sharper than my old ACE Disco 2 - however one of the biggest changes for me was adapting to the lighter steering of the the Disco 3 which led me to oversteer very slightly for the first few days - could it be this for you too ??
Glad you enjoying it otherwise 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

undred kilos
I agree ETD, the lean is much more prevalent in the d3 than the ACE equipped d2, commented on this myself a few months ago when I got mine. I don't think the extra 400-odd kilos oer the d2 helps much when you're throwing it about! Here's the thing, for want of a better phrase,..
ACE equipped D2 - I found it to be absolutely amazing and flat, probably better than some/most sports saloons on smooth-surfaced, long sweeping bends/roundabouts/corners... etc
but - awful low speed ride and have a go over tarmac imperfections at speed and there's no doubt about the several hundred kilos of hardware bouncing about beneath you!
Disco3 - a bit 2CV maybe sometimes, but who nicked all the bumps out of the road??and theeeeennn......???

Maybe I didn't throw my Disco 2 around enough it always seemed to have a semi-uncomfortable 'patter' that had you rocking like a nodding dog - after 3 years with it I found the ride in the D3 to be far, far superior -almost like a magic carpet.
Come to think of it - maybe I haven't thrown the D3 around enough either 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Have you tried it in sport mode? I find that if I am on a twisty road and want to progress a bit faster, slipping it into sport mode firms up the suspension allowing almost no leaning.

I thought Sport mode only affected the auto gearbox... Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

I can't find anything that suggests that the suspension and sport mode work together - the info states that the suspension is continuously adapting itself to it's environment.
oooooooooh sorry - did I use the dirty 'environment' word there !21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I would be intrigued to find out. When it is in sport mode it feels markedly different round the corners - this may have to do with the difference between cornering in fifth and in third, but on a recent trip to Wales, I spent most of the time in sport mode as the ride was much more comfortable for the sleeping kiddies in the back (no slamming of heads left and right whilst asleep in the child seats!).
