I believe you will find the way the centre diff lock is configured for cars is somewhat different to SUV's . The latter will allow much more wheel speed differential without locking, as off road performance requires it . Also on a Discovery 12 mm of tread difference is only 3.1% on radius so not really significant in the grand scheme of things
