Old engine oil

I have accumulated a quantity (12no. 20ltr containers) of old engine oil from my oil swops over the years for myself family and friends. Any ideas how I can get rid of it? I tried my local tip but massive hurdles…
I’ve been told that there are people that will arrive and suck it up for no fee. I’m in the Midlands.

Not sure if you'll get rid of it for free. There are companies that will come and get it, but they charge by the litre, and you'll want a waste transfer certificate to ensure they are legit, and not going to tip it down the drain.

Hmm, most local tips I have seen have an oil collection point. I guess maybe if you have A LOT they may suspect your trade taking this mick. Maybe phone the council and ask? Can you get rid of it bit by bit so it looks less iffy?

Use it to spray under your Disco and other cars you may have, keeps the tin worm at bay.
A bit messy but it does the job, I do my old Disco every year and the chassis, brake pipes etc look great with no corrosion. Thumbs Up

Try not to drink it and you'll be fine! Whistle

It IS good for keeping tinworms at bay, but if you do it on your drive then put down loads of cardboard to catch the drips.

Or do it on someone else's drive Laughing

Earlier this morning I suggested I do an oil change on my old Jazz. According to SWMBO, getting oil all over the drive was one reason for me not doing it, that and my general mechanical incompetence. Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

So in the Uk you dont have places that you can dump it for free where it is then recycled?

In Aust many of our spare parts sellers (equivalent of halfords) have huge bins at the front to dump it in and our tips have a special place to dump it so it gets recycled - we have long ago learned that if you do not provide free places to dispose then it gets dumped down drains etc.

I am surprised you do not have these places.

Our dumps or Council Recycling centres do have large storage tanks, I deposited some 6 gallons only yesterday as I had carried out a fair few oil changes since last year in our 3 motors, nobody batted an eyelid

My local tip has a big tub you pour it into. However I’m now keeping mine to treat the underbody 😏
