Just be careful if you are doing it in January by yourself, if you get stuck it's a long walk Cheers Ian

So doing it in a car 6 up including my mum, nan etc isn't advised then.
(That reads as an horrendous innuendo!)Ted

It is a pretty easy lane apart from a few washed out parts that you will need someone to watch you over but as ever the safest thing is not to do it by yourself Cheers Ian

You had to go and do that didn't you!
I've had my disco a few months and had been thinking for a while that I should take it off road at some stage (no previous experience). I go on my holidays to the lake district and, on day 1, I read your post that implies there's a relatively straight forward track just a couple of miles from our holiday cottage.
The question is - should I try it or would I be foolish? My car is standard 58 plate HSE with road tyres. I am a novice but would like to think I am fairly sensible and likely to approach the drive with due respect.
Your comments (flames?) would be appreciated!

Standard road tyres in normal, I.e. Not winter conditions is fine. I drove it last November, bit wet and as hairy Dan says, washed out in a few places.
If you want to see a little bit and get a taster go up the quarry end turn around in the old quarry and come back, it avoids the washed out bits.Sill protection - LED internal lights - LED reverse lights - boot liner - Dog Guard - Rock sliders
