Is it okay to increase the width of my tyres from 255 to 265

I’m planning on changing the tyres on my recently acquired D3, to some all terrain’s.

I’ve currently got standard LR rims in 255/60/r18....I was hoping to fill out the wheel arches a bit and go up to a 70 aspect ratio, but someone on a Facebook Discovery group said they won’t fit at the rear?

Further posts are telling me to go with 265/60 or 65.

Will 265 fit (and be safe) on the rims I have? What sidewall CAN I go with?

I have 265/60R18 BT Goodrich on mine and they are fine.
I have gone upto 265/65R18 but sometimes they catch when turning full lock, depending on the make.
Anything bigger than this and you will need a lift kit.

Heres a link that was posted on the forum that is useful:

On my 2013 D4, I ran 265/65/18 BFG TA KO2 tyres on Compomotive wheels. I had no issues with rubbing. Previous to this, I ran 285/60/18 Nitto Dune Grapplers and definitely had mild rubbing on the frame horns on full lock. Rubbing subsided as the tyres wore down. (They looked fat and beefy though!)

Im running 265x65x18 BFG KO’2’s on compo’s that seem ok upto now and it was a hell of a squeeze to get the spare in (esp with adblue tank)but got there with a little brute force and ignorance. I think the space and the offset could be a little different on a D3 to D4 though?

I run 265/70/17

They are fine. I can scrub the driver front wheel when on full lock, but it's rare.

Don't forget to tell your insurers. Actually, I'd check with them first. Thumbs Up
