Oil Pump and EGR

So

I have got my Discovery a 2008 tdv6 SX with 102,000 miles

have been reading through loads of info on the forums, some of which is a bit worrying

The vehicle had a new cambelt fitted at 101,000, reading the forums my year is a problematic year for oil pump failures, so as soon as I get back to France I need to check the oil pump

My question is how will i know if i have a old or modified pump fitted

Also i have been reading about egr blanking and as i understand it mine is a euro 4 engine

Has anyone fitted one of these

https://www.autocode.com.au/media/egr-emulators-TDV6-TDV8

I will just point the vehicle is going great, very smooth, i love it, i have covered about 400 miles mostly 20 min journeys and the indications are that we are getting 29.5 MPG

What are the thoughts re the emulator, good idea or not?

Thank you for any advice given

Sam

To check which oil pump you have is a bit awkward, as you have to remove or at least move the timing belt cover to see the area where the tensioner mounts to it. I think I am correct in saying that if your car has a DPF (diesel particulate filter) fitted then you cannot blank the egr’s. UK cars did not have them, so can be blanked with a software patch applied.

I thought that the Discovery 3 did not have a DPF

How would I know which oil pump I have fitted, is there an obvious difference between dodgy and modified

Is yours a 2008 SE

Did they do 2008 SE and SX

There are pictures in various oil pump threads on here the show the difference, the modified casting is a lot beefier where the belt tensioner attaches.
My car is a 2008 model year SE, registered Sept 07. It has had the newer oil pump fitted, has no DPF, but still has egr valves, which I intend to keep.

Did you fit the newer oil pump
Why do you intend to keep the EGR's
How did you get a 2008 model registered in 2007
I plan to keep this motor and want to understand more about it
I intend to take the covers off and check the pump that is fitted

If the first number in your VIN is a 1 it’s a TDV6 without a DPF, if it’s a 6 a DPF is (should be) fitted.
The model year usually starts around June of the previous year, it’s the 3rd number in the VIN, ie 8 for 2008.

Just a word of caution on the Autocode solution. I ordered for my TDV8. Waited weeks and it never turned up. Contacted the chap via another forum where there were some discussions about the product. He replied saying it must have been held up at customs and he would send another. That didn't arrive either so I claimed my money back via my credit card company. A lot of hassle for nothing but possibly just my bad luck. I know others have been happy but I'd also heard he'd stopped development. I would just be sure to have made contact and confirm before you place an order.
