Sounds like a good project for someone to make up a dipstick that fits down the oil evacuation pipe!

That's

My "project" to see what can be bolted in place as an aftermarket fix.
Hence the signature line.
There has to be a market for this.

Not having the stick means guesswork or costly disaster somewhere along the line. As per this post.
All for the sake of convenience. What's the point !
Not having the electronic gauge wouldn't be a deal breaker for me. Just common sense.
 BREXIT - done properly.

Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
Founder: Dipsticks-R-Us Inc
D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

I too would be interested in a proper conventional dipstick should one be available. Thumbs Up

I'm strongly suspecting my oil-level sensor has gone awol as I'm getting full oil indication after several hundred miles after oil service
Funnily enough it was registering ok before the oil change. Plugged my nanocom in and it didn't give a volume reading only dashes so very suspect.
Definitely would prefer a dipstick (probably as well as ?)

Might pump a litre or two out and see if it changes then Sad

There is a dip stick like insertion at the top left of the the engine. On 09 disco4 it is covered with a cap. I always thought dealer would insert a physical dipstick at an oil change and the electronic dipstick was a double check, saving opening bonnet.

The oil suction tube is the only place you could put a dipstick in, but the bends in the pipe make it very difficult to insert anything.
