hi, I have the Pela 6.5 unit which looks similar. I find the extractor hose length is to short and have to rest it on a box next to the car.

The one Ive got looks much the same as the one in your pics but iirc its 8 litres.
Had a it a few years (roughy 6/7) and its been good, a few other blokes at work also have the same and not heard a bad thing about them, think they are what the snap on guy sells under the blue point name.
A lot of the boaty people recommend the Pela? one, not seen one so cant comment, but from pics its round so an to store.

I can kinda understand boaty people liking the round Pela. It is low and stable and as the pump is not fixed to the top it does pack-down quite small. The daft thing about the pump being a loose fit is you have to use both hands to pump it, rather than using it like a stirrup pump. It drove me nuts until the seals all failed, which didn't take that long….
Ideally I'm looking for something that can do very narrow diptstick tubes yet can be adapted to fit the D4 extraction tube.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

Robbie that one in the pic that you posted is spot on I've been using one for about 8 years and still going strong not sure if it was made by sealey but looks exactly the same,it gets used mainly to suck diesel and engine oil Wanted D4s non runners pm for competitive price.

Thanks Woody. The same model is sold under a few names so probably the same. I'd be happy to get a few years life out of one; 8 years would be outstanding.

There's a review of fluid extractors in Car Mechanics magazine, the best buy was the Screwfix 21663. 6-litre capacity, 2.1m extraction hose, 5mm diameter. The one I have came with a variety of different dia extraction hoses, but they are all just clear nylon air pipe so easy enough to modify etc.
Best thing about them is set a vac going and wander to do other stuff on the vehicle ie remove filter lube stuff etc keep checking the vac until you hear the gurgle, even works on my boat engine which says something as that can be a pain for some reason.

The Pela I've just ditched looks identical to the Screwfix 21663; complete with the daft loose pump. I could not recommend the design although the extraction tubes were pretty good and did not collapse under suction when warm.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

I have a Sealey TP6904(although I think it may have been badged Laser), it has manual and pnuematic operation.
I've had mine years, I only ever use it with the compressor now as it's easier. The tube with it didn't go into a D3 sump at first. I tried again recently after putting a chamfer on the end of the pipe so I was able to get it in and it was fine.
I never used the manual option that much as it always seemed like a lot of effort to drain a sump fully.
I've been thinking of getting a new one and when I do I'm going to get one of these two. They are not cheap but you can see the pump mech and fittings are much better quality. They have been on the monthly specials before too.They are made by Mityvac
