Oh what a shi*ty week
After various electrical faults ..and a horrible noise comming from the underside of my car ..today just topped it off
Working at Asda Halesowen and decided to tuck my car in the corner out of the way of artics unloading .
Tucked my car in and went off to do some work . 2 hours later i was approched by a security guard with the dredded words "somethings hit your car mate "
What i found was not an artic or van but a bloody big gate rammed down the side of my car .
The gate had travelled down from the back door along the door handle and then onto the front door stopping when it had bent the mirror out .
I asked him to close the gate ..but he replied its stuck .I managed to move forward about a foot and the gate moved a little then stopped.
It would not close . I then proceded to do a 81 point turn to get my car out of the gate without any more damage.
Miraculously ..there were no dents at all . The paint on the door handle at one point is worn down to the plastic .
The rest looks like it will polish out , but its hard to tell whats the white paint from the gate and whats the undercoat .
After about an hour the gate reset it self and closed ( all be it a little shaky )

Sorry to see that.
It's good that there are no dents. Hopefully some careful detailing will remove the worst without having to resort to any painting.

I’m surprised the gate hadn’t a low torque setting, so as not to keep pushing against an obstruction. Or at the very least a “safety edge†device on the leading edge of the gate, which would stop and/or reverse the movement of the gate when it comes into contact with something.
I know that any sliding gates we install have to have, by code, a “safety edge†fitted.
Anyway, glad the damage looks more cosmetic than denting

Knowing how much you cherish the finish on your car, that's really bad
I hope that is the end of your troubles. Mark...

Is the store not accepting responsability? Maybe they should have had a 'No Parking' warning

This is not just any scratch. This is a bloomin' great gate at the back of a supermarket scratch.
On the plus side, if it were scratched behind a Waitrose it would have been more expensive while Tesco would have sued you for putting black paint on their gate.
On balance, could have been worse.
Hope the rest of the week is a little better for youI know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
