When I had mine done a few years back I had the same delay issue.
I took the view that it needed done one way or the other, the dealer agreed to refund my payment when the warranty was approved and it was all done in a day by paying up front for it.
I think it was the rear diff, but remember it was the paint issue.

....the latest in the saga
Land Rover have more questions on my diff .......so I now need to take the car down for a 3rd 170-mile round trip.....and leave it with Team Valley for 2 days for further investigation......which will require me making a 4th 170-mile round trip to pick it up 2 days later.....
I understand this is not leading to a refusal of the warranty claim, and this is LR Engineering wanting to look closer into the issue,to dig deeper into the reasons for failure.......
Glad diesel is so cheap.... "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Just spoke to a very helpful LR Customer service guy......he has access to all the warranty communication so far,and apparently LR Engineering want chassis ears attached to identify exactly where the failure is......I suggested they might have asked for that in the first place,as part of the report they requested, thereby saving me another double round trip....
As there doesn't appear to be any question of Warranty refusal,I also suggested LR Eng would probably get a more accurate result by dismantling the diff after it was removed to find the issue....The diff oil is clear and uncontaminated ( and was at the correct level)
I'm certainly not mechanical, but would there not be physical evidence left behind in the diff if it was very noisy and failing ?
I suppose they just want to be absolutely sure before replacing it,but it seems a pretty long-winded route ?"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Not all the time no, some diffs just start to whine and there is no evidence of any swarf in the oil.

Thanks Mick .....it must be pretty galling for them having to replace diffs if there's no obvious evidence of a fault/cause behind it.......I guess they're just being thorough
Bit of a pain if your dealers aren't close to you though....."Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Not at all Ian....when this was all done and dusted I was going to post how impressed I was with the service I have recieved from them.....they have kept me informed the whole time, and indeed during my conversation with LR Customer Service, they mentioned that they are one of their most highly thought of outfits "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

On that note....LR Customer Services suggested I ask about a "goodwill gesture " for the fuel expense and inconvenience ..... I've never gone down that route before,so how does it work ?.......do LR get charged or the Dealer ?...... Nobody had done anything "wrong" as such, but I wouldn't want Team Valley to have to pay for something they have no control over "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

I had goodwill with a FFRR where the car was filled to the brim each time I had to attend for outstanding warranty issues where they needed the car for parts fitting

The reason I phoned LRCS was that I wanted to know why more information was required if they weren't going to refuse the warranty .....so I totally agree,if its a request for more info from the LR end, then surely the goodwill gesture should come from their end ?
Im very happy that LR want to find out as much info as possible if there is a D4 diff issue going forward, but surely that shouldn't be at a customers expense......
Either way,I'm not going to cause a fuss "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Well after a further one a half days at the garage,LR have finally authorised the front diff to be replaced under warranty.......
Full chassis ear tests were carried out yesterday, and then someone at LR noticed that I was currently running 19" wheels with GG AT's,and the original build spec of my car was listed as having 20" with Scorpion Zeros...... ....cue questions about when I changed them ?.... Did that coincide with the diff issues ?......what size were the GG's etc.....I started to see LR looking for an excuse.....
They then ordered all the tests to be carried out again, using my original 20" wheels ..
It looked like I was going to have to drive back down with my 20's,but fortunately Team Valley had another car in with the same 20's,and swapped them over for the tests......with exactly the same outcome as the 19's......I think I heard offside diff bearing was the culprit, but will ask for a full report tomorrow as it will now be too late to get the car after they finish replacing the diff tonight.
We got there in the end,and I have to say, through all this,Team Valley LR have been brilliant.... "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...
