3 amigos really relates to the disco 2.
Need codes read first, it will most likely be something daft.

No one can answer that based on a description alone.

I would say you have breakdown cover? if so ring them and Im sure they will plug it in for you.

Personally I would take it back to where you bought it and get them to fix it. If private purchase then it is a little worrying. As stated could be a load of different things. Need fault codes read

Could be a blown rear brake bulb

Also the brake pedal switch can cause that, it could be worse obviously so taking it back as suggested might be a good idea, but if you cant these are the first things id check.

Good luck.

Well I've changed the brake switch no difference
Changed the battery as only 12.1V then changed the alternator as only charging at 12.9V tickover and 13.3 at 2000RPM
Re-read the fault codes and get:-
from ECU
P0402 EGR flow excessive detected
P0101 Mass air volume or flow out of range
from ABS TC
U0401 invalid data from engine or powertrain control module
From gearbox
U2023
Fault received from external node

Am I right in thinking the EGR is route fault, Mass flow is because EGR is flowing too much gas so not enough air is going in and faults in ABS TC and gearbox aer receiving fault from ECU?
Any help very much appreciated.

I reckon they saw you coming. Still, the sawdust is keeping the gearbox smooth.

I thought I'd made a huge mistake too when the night after buying mine privately, one of the front half-drive shafts spilled its guts on the M6 half way from London to Glasgow.

This happened with my family in transit, at midnight after months spent persuading my wife we needed a do-it-all invincible motor like a 6 year old D3. Our dream first long distance drive in our new much anticipated Disco was shattered.

Fast forward 7 years and it's been the best and, so far, most reliable car ever. No regrets.

Could be something big or not. Get it fixed if you can and the long term costs of owning will eventually settle down to something like normal.

There is no doubt I can repair it lol
Fault reader is an Icarsoft
I'm pretty sure it's not serious as turning ignition off and restarting clears the fault.

According to another post on here the engine ecu sees the egr valve has opened by the difference in the amount of air the engine is pulling in via the maf sensor.

So I would hazard a guess you have a dodgy egr valve.
Can you see with the icarsoft how far the egr valves are opening? should be expressed in a percentage term.

Iirc they never go under 5 percent even when closed

You can blank them and have them mapped out, mapping needed as 07 onwards are Euro4.

Have a search lots to learn.
