Off to stealers for big list of issues.

Hi

I bought an 05 HSE 4 weeks ago form Stratstone Burnham.
The following is the list od issues it is going in for (all must have been present when I purchased).
Front park sensors not working
Door trim loose
Head phone sockets on near side only play Aux input
Low coolant level warning
Near side bonnet catch doesn't catch
Service indicator says service overdue although serviced in March
Passenger door does not unlock (intermittent)
Sunroof rain channels blocked, water poured into cabin
parking brake fails intermitently

I have a distinct feeling the multipoint check was never done and if it was it must have been done by thje tea boy.
Anything else I should check before it goes in tomorrow?

Thanks

Paul

Dependent on mileage, ball joints and bushes
Tailgate struts work lose - where they bolt into the bodywork
Good luck

Get them to plug the computer in and make sure there are no other fault codes.

I would also ask they inspect the hoses and pipes. Turbo, Intercooler and air con all seem to develop cracks.

Switzerland 2008 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Stornoway GreyDiscovery 3

was this car in an accident ? evidence.....
-front park sensors not working
-door trim loose (refitted ? door replaced ?)
-low coolant (leak)
-near side bonnet catch (is loose door trim near side ? sign of accident)
-passenger door (near side) intermittent unlocking (might be battery ....or result of accident)

get chassis and wheel alignment checked.

call the AA

also, software on all controllers should be latest version.
There's one wheel on my wagon, but i'm still rollin' along, it's the cherokee, they're after me, but I'm singing a happy song

or it might be just the usual problems with D3s, had all of the above problems except the front PDC (not got those). It's a LR, it's gonna have problems like that at that age if they have not been sorted as they crop up!

I wouldn’t jump to the conclusion of accident damage although this might be a cause.

Front park sensors not working – ISTR that for some reason they get disconnected if you have an A frame or winch
Door trim loose – If this is the door trim half way up the door then it’s the optional extra trim which was renound for falling off. ISTR LR in the end withdraw them because of this problem
Low coolant level warning – common fault is sensor failure or could just be a bad/non-existent service given you also have the service indicator showing.
Near side bonnet catch doesn't catch – Common fault, in fact I have this problem on mine and also had it on my last D3. (Must get it sorted)
Sunroof rain channels blocked, water poured into cabin – Common problem and you can find DIY instructions on this site.
parking brake fails intermittently – It would not be a D3 if you never had this problem.

Speaking of pre delivery checks, one was never done on my car that I bought from Caffyns in Lewes. Or like you say, if it was it was not by anyone competent. As soon as I got it home i realised that one brake light wasn't working, and the rear windows didn't work!!

To be fair to them, they came and picked up and sorted it all out in the time they said it would take, and also refilled the car to allow the diesel it had used for the unnecessary 40 mile round trip back to the dealers.

But the lingering thing for me is how on earth they let themselves sell a £30k+ car without doing a basic PDI!

Thanks All.
In a way I am glad there are so many issues as, as long as they are sorted, it means they are less likely to happen when I have to pay.
I think it had bull bars whicgh is why from t sensors don't work.
I blew through the rain drain thing and it helped but I want them to do the others. All things seem to be common but will be good to have them sorted.

Ta

So far, after 1 day they have not managed to fix or diagnose any of the issues. They couldn't even locate the door trim.
They are blaiming the headphone fault on a dvd instalation which actually uses a wireless transmitter connected directly to the player.
They want to do a pressure test on the expansion tank, even though it is probably just the float, and they are not sure if you can disable the front park sensors with the diagnostic tool.

So, another day in the Modeo, wohoo. Not impressed.

I'm not surprised that this dealership haven't been able to fix anything, (see Stratstone Wooburn Green feedback) as that's who they were when I bought mine from them. (They couldn't even fix faults on a new car Shocked ) and I vowed never to use them again, they were utterly incompetent then, and sound like they are even more of a joke now. Laughing
