Off Road Wheels and Tires

I am trying to get a set of wheel tire combination for my off road adventures. I am going to leave my 18's with the Grabber AT2 I already have for street and work use. I need a more agressive and reliable set for my hardcore adventures offroad.

I want a set of black steel wheels 16"" and super swamp tires or MT's. I am thinking of 255/85/16 or 265/85/16.

Do you know if going with larger diameter tires will affect negatively the traction control?

16" wheels will not fit on a D3, they foul the brake calipers. 17" are possible on TDV6 models and 18" are the smallest for V8's.
06 TDV6 SE with many LR and after-market extras. Used only on weekends and trips out west.

17 " is the smallest dia that will fit a SE, First thing I tried was to see if a 16" from a TD5 would fit, not a hope.
There are 17" steel wheels available i Oz but no idea if available in USA.

I fitted 17" alloy wheels with off road tires for serious ftuff, they are good, but had the steel ones been available at the time I would have used them, I think they would be more durable in the rough stuff.
ie. steel can bend, but alloy just brakes and the wheel is useless.

I've just ordered a set of 6 Dynamic steel wheels, expecting them this week. 17" special model for Disco 3 are now approx $160ea and come with wheel nuts.

Using my alloys with road tyres for highway work.

Hi everyone! Has any of you experimented with tyres on the LR3? My original GoodYears are almost bald and I have had a tough time finding good, price-friendly, tyres.... I have finally settled on some Yokohama AT/S's. They seem to have an agressive tread, are all-season, and I am getting them for @$180/each CDN ! (265/60/18) Please let me hear some of your thoughts/comments.
