Off Road in the Midlands

Well South Leicestershire or North Warwickshire really. Where is the best place to find about green lanes in my area. Need to get the new toy a bit dirty ....

Join GLASS - you can then get onto Wayfinder which will reveal your nearest lanes... Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

Also purchase the OS Land Ranger or explorer maps, these will show any byways, unclassified roads and orpa routes. You should confirm their status before driving them by phoning the local council row officer.

Join GLASS or CRAG, they have local reps who can help you, also may offer to take you with a group. Its not advisable to go alone.

I personally have not been laning in that area, but let us know what you find.

Bought the maps before we went on holiday and I spent each evening charting possible lanes in south Leicestershire and North Warks.....

Some great looking potential with old roman roads and tracks to and from ancient villages (abandoned in the plague) and disused quarries. Just the council bit that looks like a PITA, hence somebody must have already done the hard work 8)

Have looked at Glass and sent an emial to my local rep.

Thanks all
