I used to do lots of laning in my old series 2, the problems with many kent lanes is they are tight even in the winter and in the summer!
Body damage on a D3 will almost be certain, mainly scratches but lots and lots of them.
Even a 90 with a snorkel can struggle.

Few nice largish lanes out the back of harrietsham way, following the pilgrims way, you also need a permit in quite a few places, all nice and wide, but they can all be driven in a normal car so hardly worth the effort, but be very careful with any that go up or downhill as many cars have rolled down the banks into the fields.

Side slopes are also waiting to get the unwary, chalk and water dont mix.

Most kent lanes are also very short, one I know of is 300 yards long Mr. Green again a d3 you like wont fit down there.

As said above, sadly all the open lanes in kent are either very short and/or very narrow and/or very overgrown. Best bet is to look at an organised thing on here in Wales, Peak district or way up north like the Kielder event. The pay and play sites in the area might be worth a look, but again they will be primarily aimed at vehicles that are battered and trashed. You'll just have to ask around or go along just to take a look. Not sure if KORC are still doing much, might be a worth a look at their forum http://thekentoffroadclub.proboards.com/ but you'll need to register.

Try also:
http://www.cuddymuntsoffroad.com/ (Faversham)
http://www.piccadillywood4x4.co.uk/ (Bolney, West Sussex)
http://www.mud-monsters.co.uk/Mud-Monsters/Home.html (East Grinstead)

I've not been to any of the pay and play sites above so could not comment on them.

Your other option would be to join the South East 4x4 Response team http://www.southeast4x4response.org.uk/. They organise events and training. I used to belong but just can't commit enough time to them now.

I've been to Cuddys (link above) and it's very fun!! Not sure I would take a d3 round there though as I have seen some SJ's and defenders on their sides there Whistle

I'm trying to get a group of 20 for an off road day at east well manor but can't get the numbers Big Cry

Who runs Eastwell Manor now? Since Land Rover Exp pulled out, 4X4 Soultions took over for a while, but I thought it all closed down as the land owner didn't want them on any more....?

Cuddys is worth a look, I had actually forgotten about them! you only have to pay if you drive around, so its worth the drive for a look see, took my 90 around there, again lots of it is quite tight, plus you have to be a member which is only 20 quid.
i went there after they had only been open a few times and it was quite small, but the guy running it had loads more land at his disposal that he was going to turn into more tracks.

Down kent p+p sites are now almost extinct, to many nimbys and to be fair I cant say I blame them!

In your shoes I would buy an old series to play in, amazing where they can go plus scratched paint and the odd dent just dont matter.

Not sure what the score is with KORC I used to go trialing with a lady from the korc called Tracey she used to organise it all, lots of blokes from the invicta 4x4 club used to go, again no good for a D3 even D1s used to get stuck, hooked up at both ends!

Invicta 4x4 went real quiet as many members gave up their 4x4s as they were sick of all the other 4x4 guys trashing all the local lanes and giving all 4x4s a bad name.
Thats another advantage of a series as people think its cute so you get no hassle!

I would say anything quarry based is what you want, or maybe the lanes of Thetford forest.

Google the blue light off road club or something like that Guys name was Les as you can guess from the name they were all coppers Very Happy and had access to quite a bit of military land, Again Ive been around it in the 90 and a D3 would be fine there, not that far from you Iirc?

If you ever fancy a few lanes with me in the series 2, pm me and we can sort something out.

The blue light off road club just had a day down on Salisbury Palin for the Amarok forum members (amoung other groups). Didn't go, but looks safe and damage free from the video I've seen Thumbs Up
