Off-road in Ireland

We're in Galway 22nd-26th August, then Meath 27th-30th. Any of our Eirean cousins have a suggestion for off road trips? There are two rules for success,
1. Never tell everything you know.

unfortunately as all land is privately held you need landowners permission. So short of a few miles of beaches in some areas options are limited.

The only other alternative is a play day with some of the 4x4 clubs who have forestry access.
google CLRI or Leinster 4x4. there are others

pay and play

there is a pay and play site east of galway about 30 mins drive and its called dartfield horse museum €20 for the day i think. there might be some greenlanes in the north but somebody from the area would have to confirm that.
