OBDII adapter not communicating with ECU

Hi,

I've recently bought a Bluetooth OBDII adapter that I intended to use with the Torque pro app for Android.
My problem is that although the adapter pairs with the phone well (I use a Galaxy S5) the Torque pro app shows that the adapter does not communicate with the ECU.
Is there something that I'm not doing right? Or is the adapter not working as it should?
Below some details about the adapter from the seller. If anybody has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Generic OBD readers are almost pointless on a D3 or D4, so experience with them is going to be limited. As a result the forum is unlikely to be a good source of help for one particular model of such a tool. Even if you get it to work it is more likely to confuse than help to diagnose faults.

I have a generic OBD reader which worked on an older car I had but it is of no use on a D3/D4, the only reading you will be able to get from it with the Torque app are a few live values Thumbs Up For fault reading etc your best bet is either the Nanocom or the IID Tool
