I think the D4 is a great platform for this sort of small OB truck. At the moment most production vehicles of this size seem to be based on the Volkswagen Caravelle. Which is okay on road but wouldn't get very far off it.
(Hope they haven't forgotten that most editors like to have a fridge, kettle and George Foreman Grill plugged in as well?)
