For anyone following the saga of the link in my post not working, I believe it may be fixed.

I, um, copied the wrong URL into that post, and thought I was smart, didn't I?

Embarrassingly signing off, Leigh

hope you can find your lifted coils for your D3. A 2-3" lift is the maximum allowed for the D3, as it makes the transmission work at limit operation angles (and you won't want to break anything). It's a piece of cake.

By the way, have a nice weekend!

That's fabulous! Thanks very much!

I am very curious what shocks they are going to try to work with. The factory shocks can't really accomodate the 60mm springs very well, it takes too much of the available travel!

I don't read or speak French. I tried the translator (via Google), what does RAID mean in French? I love the translators new term "Disco Music" That's a keeper for sure!

Also, in my earlier forays into this topic, I completely removed the front shocks and my travel only dropped another 6mm or so. The anti-sway bar connectors limit the amount of travel (drop) that the suspenion control arms can go. I can't quite tell from the photo if they have modified theirs.

Can someone fluent in French inquire about the following?
- How much clearance do they have under the rear differiental with the 60mm lift?
- How much wheel travel (drop) do they have in front? In the rear?
- Which springs are they using, King's Heavy duty or Medium duty spring rates? How does it ride compared to origional?
- Have they done anything yet to the exhaust? I'm considering chopping mine off near the center transfer case and installing two smaller mufflers in series, then terminating the whole thing before the rear driveshaft.
- Can they provide more info on the shower system? That sounds great!
- Have they gone off roading with "normal" D3's, and if so, how does theirs compare? (primarly interested in ground clearance performance)
- What shocks are they now considering using? I have obtained the following spring rate from Land Rover regarding the factory coil/spring struts:
Front rate is 69N/mm (51 lbf-ft)
Rear rate is 74.8N/mm / 110 N/mm (dual rate) (55/81 lbf-ft).
- And finally, can they email larger photos to me? nathan AT woodsfamily.cc

A nice bottle of California Pinot Noir to whoever can obtain this info from them.

Regards,

Nathan Woods

Right now, I am "in transit" in some airport lobby... Wink

Raid in French means basically the same thing as in English... Wink But in that context, the idea is to say that the car will be used for off-roading in North Africa as we happen to have those desert nearby (Sort off...)
There is a kind of mentality in the French 4x4 market where when you sometimes have more money than sense :
- you just go ahead, buy yourself the first 4x4 you can get,
- overload it with a lot of feature not always really useful,
- drive to a foreign country,
- consider yourself a bit like warriors in hostile territory !
Thus, the use of the word "Raid"... Rolling Eyes Embarassed
And such a car in France would also be nicknamed a "Porte-Avion" (An aircraft carrier...) as it is overloaded with a lot of features that are not always rightly done or even used... I am not saying that this is the case in THAT particular car, but that this nickname can be quite used... Wink

Here, I think, having read that article in paper version, that it is more like a showcase for that dealership. Some kind of advertising as to what length they are ready to go for a customer. Thus, the fact that it is advertised on their website...

As for your inquiries, I won't be able to take care of those before some time next week... If that is acceptable to you ?
I'll be able then to send an email in French to that dealership and let you know what he answers if he does... Be aware though that he might want to protect his "trade secrets" as this guy is doing this for money... Sad Thus I am REALLY not sure we'll go somewhere with that inquiry but I am game to try ! Wink

No, I don't do that for wine as I don't drink alcohol ! Wink Beside, offering Californian wine to a French ? That would be tantamount to a war declaration ! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Anyway, I do have ome transit and some flying to do before I'll be able to answer, thus if someone else can do it quicker than I do, that is okay by me... Wink

Nathan, I took some photos in Val d'Isere, but I think its another converted vehicle, this time with air suspension. I will send them to you as soon as I get back to my office next week.

Maybe somebody near Valence can drop there and ask the questions to Christophe, the Land Rover guru...
