My front plate is starting to delaminate, the LR background one's look tempting - yer, I know they're not exactly plod-friendly

As long as they can read the plate via their automated system they appear to be OK(IMHO). So my advice is use the UK Standard Font, but the badge, border and strap line appear to be ok I assume using any form of expletive in the strapline might provoke a stop.

as long as you choose a font that the Police can read then you won't have a problem well I have never had a problem on any of my other cars. 8)

Slightly but the penalty for not displaying a no. plate is a £30 fixed penalty notice which is non-endorsable (i.e no points). Kinda makes you think doesn't it?
In reality, provided you're not speeding there is little chance in being pulled by Trafpol. as they are now so thin on the ground, hence the increase in drink driving & general poor road behaviour etc.

"Sorry officer, a big van reversed into me & broke my no. plate (produce the broken plate from the boot) & I was going to get a new one made straight away, but I didn't have the requred I.D on me. I'll get one made tomorrow"
"No problem sir, just make sure you do"
Worst case scenario a £30 fine or a note to produce your documents at your local nick!
P.S In no way am I suggesting that anyone should at anytime drive on the public highway without clearly displaying both front & rear no. plates.

Had new plates made for the RX8 by GT Grafix these are the carbon fibre ones. 3 day turn around.
In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.
