That's tough FF.
Local to you and as we have already had a previous attempted theft from our driveway, we fitted a Ghost 2 system to our new BMW.

I'm afraid location or prevention will do nothing.
The lot that came for mine (3 balaclava clad toe rags) had no regard for dogs, security lights, cameras as all were set off. They just held the handle to the door to prevent anyone coming out of the house whilst they attempted to plug in.
No smashed window, just straight in. I have it all on video. The police (to be fair) looked at all footage nearby to see if they could see them and a trail back to a vehicle but to no avail.
They had zero interest in the unlocked electric car parked next to it or indeed the tools I had in the back of the D4....they were gone inside a minute once they couldn't plug in.
They were professional Discovery thieves! They came for the D4 and nothing else.... it was a good looking one!
This is sadly why I sold it within the week of the attempt. They (or another lot) would be back and I didn't want to end up in trouble for shooting them when it happened again.A mod a week until I have nothing to improve or add.

Just a note ref steering locks. I use a Stoploc elite pro on my L663 Defender and make sure that the claw is placed over one of the spokes.
This means that even if they cut the wheel each side of the lock claw, the spoke will keep the lock in place, and it’s very difficult to cut the spoke.

What holds the obd socket in place?- I've looked several times at moving mine but can't see what holds it in position. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

+1
I know the Disklock is superior, I have one, but the Stoplock Pro is more user friendly.

Has anyone put in some home-made security type things in their cars? I'm thinking some kind of basic hidden kill-switch that disconnects something critical so even if the scummers get inside they still can't drive off? Something basic like a kill to the starter motor? Or fuel pump? Or even a dummy blocked air intake on the wing that suffocated the engine within a few minutes?
Or even just a rape/attack alarm with some kind of movement sensor hidden behind the dash? We are issued those for lone working at work and f@#k me they are astonishingly loud. They'd pierce your ear inside a vehicle and would scare them off perhaps.
With my garage/carport build I'm merely going to build in some kind of ground anchor or a metal gate bolted to the house. It won't stop it being taken whilst out on the road, but hopefully enough of a deterrent to put them off coming to the house.2022 BMW i4 M50. Bought Oct 2022. 10,200 miles and counting...

Hidden switch on a simple piggy back fuse.
Obviously wont give too much out for those miscreants that may lurk, but car wont start with switch off, and if anything fails whilst on the move, there are no dramas.

I have an Airtag hidden in my LR which isn't fool proof but for £30 its worth it.

those steering locks are ground off in under 30 seconds..... even the full wheel type.
Years ago in South Africa we also had gear and pedal locks, still cars with those were stollen.
Then there is always the next level they move to, shooting you as you go to drive off.

I thought the laced bottle of whiskey in the glove box was an imaginative approach. Not saying what it’s laced with, nor that I condone such an approach but enough to say that the car thieves/drunk drivers won’t be committing any more offences.
