Now got to buy a new map sensor, help with problems please
I read today about cleaning the map sensor. As my EGR valves packed up last year and was blanked off I thought that YES I must clean my map sensor and soon as I got home off it came, nice and mucky so gave it a real nice clean using cleaning tips from forum and looks good as new, poped back into car 10 minutes later then went to start
HDC fault, all special programs off. (displayed on screen).
Tried to accellerate and nothing. Suspension auto lowered and orange symbol same as parking brake symbol next to parking break / below water temp is illuminated.
No 4 wheel drive selection either.
Would cleaning the sensor reallllly give me all this trouble?? or has disconnecting to clean confused ECU??
I suppose at least a new one will be clean just hope Land Rover have on on the shelf.

Would'nt have thought so. Most of us disconnected to clean, and nobody has reported the issue. You can always wait for the D3 to go to sleep, then disconnect the Battrey. Once you connect back up see if the numerous lights are there still.
It might help to get the fault codes read too. How far from the Sevenoaks area are you?, drop Geoff a PM. He'll read the codes if you need it

would the sensor being damaged whilst cleaning cause this??

Shouldn't do that!! Could it be that it's not making good contact on reconnection? Got a new one on the way from TLO, at least he'll know what your talking about. Any other parts dude will scratch his head and try and convince you that it's a MAF sensor you want!

just only thing I can think of as car never had any issues till I cleaned map sensor today, issue came up soon as turned ignition on, even before attempting to start??

Like Derek says, you did connect it back up and the multiplug is seated correctly . Try disconnecting the Battrey as I said above, and if the problem is still there then Geoff's the guy to look

Just a thought but if the MAP was gunked up and now clean, doing its stuff, could that then put stress on the turbo side of things that trips a latent problem lying there?? Mind you that would (I'd have thought) need a bit of use, not springing a fault on start up. That (in my non techie mind) seems like the MAP sensor is fritzed and sending the wrong signal. That might be coz the sensor died a death or not connected cleanly.
As I said, just a thought.

It just confused me about the suspension activating access mode and hdc fault. The lack of any power I can understand as thats how my car acted when EGR packed up until I blocked them?? Maybe the suspension / HDC is the limp home mode due to my dodgy sensor?? I did try starting with sensor un plugged and got same issue but if sensor broke having it unplugged must give same issue??

Would have thought its more likely you may have disturbed some other connectors on top of the engine.
Check everything is connected and not loose.

I have just cleaned my map sensor. I took a picture before & after. It was well & truly clogged up.
I cleaned it with some kitchen towel & a squirt of switch cleaner.
The car started & got to the end of my road (about 1000 yards).
2 Error messages coming up as the engine cuts out.
HDC not available & engine system fault. The engine will start & run for about 10 seconds & then cuts out.
I've just got the car back up the road after several attempts. I too wish that I hadn't cleaned it.................
Nothing else was touched. Perhaps there was an underlying issue all along.

look at the MAP electrical connector to ensure the contacts havnt shorted somehow. when I cleaned mine I didnt even take the electrical connector off, as it could be still cleaned okay. I had no issues afterwards....
