Progress!! Thanks for your help guys!

Today I managed to free the jammed rod, I found a roughneck utility bar in the garage which had the right amount of angle on one end to rest it against the rod, and a good surface to whack it with a claw hammer on the other end! I spent the next hour or so winding it back and connected the 2 brake cables together again, and with a satisfying click!

I drove the car off the ramps and jacked up the rear end to adjust the knurled adjusters again. Last time neither of them would move, the left hand passenger side took some persuading with a hammer and screwdriver, but when it gets tight it basically jams itself again and needs another good whack to loosen off. I then undid the allen bolt and gave the disc a tap all round with a rubber hammer, then tightened it back up.

On the drivers side, well the knurled adjuster really is stuck, and I've given up for today now as it's been 6hrs so far today alone!

I was ready to take the disc off tomorrow but reading the brake bible, the adjuster needs to be loose to get the disc off, so either way I'm stuck?

Thanks for all your help so far everyone, it really is appreciated!

Mat..

If the disk spins then you should be able to get it off or you could squirt WD40 through the adjuster hole to free the adjuster.

Thanks Globetrotter!

I got up early, got the wheel off and squirted it with WD40. Carried on with some other stuff around the house whilst I waited for it to soak in. Quick tap a while later and started to turn with mimimal effort! Strange after all the hammering and levering yesterday that it was so easy today!

Anyway, with the EPB freed up, rewound and latched, brake shoes adjusted - it works like a dream!

Thank you to everyone who has helped me with this, and to Bodsy for his guide! Saved me a fortune at the garage!

I'll be adjusting it every 6 months from now on!

Mat.. Thumbs Up
