Not Starting
Just come to get back in the car and pressed the start button - all the usual lights come on but the engine doesn't turn over. Battery is 6 months old, all lights are bright and brake lights work ok.
Awaiting LR Assistance but any ideas what the problem may be?

Perhaps the car thinks it is in gear. Exercise the gear lever as step 1, try it in neutral as step 2.

Sorry not very useful and I shouldn't be posting here as I use a key to start but it could be many things. Try turning the lights off, get out, lock, unlock, get back in. Check gear in park, foot on brake and try to start.
When did it last start?

Done all those things but still won't start. Last used about 2pm.

A torch would be handy to check the fuses to see if any have blown - there may be a visible discolouration. A good case for a cheap DVM in the glove box.
If you turn the headlights on do they start to dim? Might be your battery has drained. Though for that to happen to the point with lit dash but no starting you'd have to have consumed around 600W since 2PM

This is odd as I found my mobile phone had no key press tone and wouldn't make a call although I could get on the home broadband
Reset phone and went out to try the car for the 50 th time and it started.
Any ideas
LR Assist will be here in 10 minutes

LR Assist found 2 fault codes so will book the car in for a check.
Still seems odd that this happened at the same time as problems with the phone and wonder if the blue tooth had something to do with it.
Thanks for the tips posted

Had a similar problem when parked next to a electric drop down barrier at a supermarket, pushed car away and it started straight away!!!
Weird or what, the security at the Trafford Centre said it was a regular occurance!
