Not low voltage then???

Today whilst driving along (warm engine, 15 minutes into journey), I got these two error messages again:

I immediately checked the Vehicle signals screen on the satnav diagnostics, and it showed that battery voltage was approx 14.5V

I had been led to believe that these error messages were related to low battery voltage, especially as there are no error codes logged when it happens.

Given that it's not battery voltage - any ideas where I should start? Without any codes logged I'd prefer to give the dealers an idea of where to start looking...

Thanks!

Transgenic tomato anyone?

I'm wondering if it's got something to do with the cold weather too - not sure how though Confused

Every day for the last week when starting my car I'm getting a message saying HDC failure System not available - a few seconds later everythings ok again. Going to have a word with my dealer in the new year.

The low voltage issue is only at startup, when cold. You have a different problem - fault codes should be stored, but the system you describe could be caused by a number of different things.

It could be due a previous low voltage issue causing the transfer case stepper motor to lose it's position references, next time you start the D3, cycle the range change three or four times to allow it to re - learn it's relative positions

I too had problems with error messages on my first D3.
when I called land rover assist out, the very nice man told me that the battery had lost a cell thus low voltage,
and according to him low battery levels do cause error messages.
but still worth checking other routes to this problem to.

Thanks TFC, that sounds like a winner. I've given the transfer box a damned fine work out this evening ( ten ratio changes should do it I assume?) so I'll report back when it's fixed the problem Thumbs Up

My next pay-packet has a CTEK battery charger on a promise - I did already have one, but it got nicked before I got to use it Big Cry I'm hoping that a good long bench charge of the battery will reduce my low voltage issues (I never have more than 12V stored nowadays, but have not yet had any other symptoms).

Thanks stumpy, I don't know if I've lost a cell or not at the moment - until I get to fully bench charge it, I don't think I'll be able to tell.

You could try a Kwik Fit (or similar) winter battery check, they will tell you have lost a cell Thumbs Up

TFC, as promised, I'm reporting back that your suggestion has fixed the problem. Thanks!
