What is the logicality in the loading numbers? If low profile = lower number (and higher profile vice-versa) why do the numbers not run sequentially in line with wheel size?

MrH wot no 17s??? Saw a D4 commercial in Frank Ogg's car park that had 17s on, and (just for bobbycrispbox) had a manual gearbox. Rob U could have bought a van!
