I am having problems with Vodafone.
I recently changed to a Motorola razr v3x. The sim that was in the Nokia now lives in the Motorola, The Nokia in the D3 cradle now has a Vodafone "pay as you go" sim. I would like to use a cheap Tesco (O2) sim which has none of the frills like text messaging and international calls, but does have a rate of 15p per minute instead of 30p with Vodafone.
The problem is with unlocking the "puk" code. After a lot of argy bargy with Vodafone they have sent me on 2 occasions 2 different unlock codes, neither of which works.
Sorry to go on and on.
Does anyone know if there is some software or any other way I can unlock this bleedin phone?
Cheers

The PUK code is only a master unlock in case you have entered your PIN incorrectly several times, it will not release any network locks do a google for 'nokia unlock code' and get clicking

When I insert the phone into the cradle it charges OK, but the phone does not say it's cradled, and the PTI does not recognize it. 2010 D4 3.0 TDV6 HSE Zermatt Silver

Thanks for that. I did what you said and I got some codes.
However, when Vodafone sent me the codes, both were tried twice. You get a total of 5 shots and then you are locked out. Just tried 1 of the codes from the net and now I am locked out.
I now need to find a nice man with a cable to connect to the phone.
Thanks again

errrr... did you have the right phone / sim combination?
The PUK is related to the EMEI of the phone and the SIM registered to it although typically it is only used to unlock the SIM, very few networks will lock the handset, except to their network and features

Using www.unlock.nokiafree.org
1) remove sim from phone
2) key in *#06# (this generates a 15 digit number)
3) select network (vodafone UK)
4) select phone model (NOKIA 6230)
5) input the generated code (#pw+113614753460055+1#)(1 of 5)
6) result on phone (code error)
7) after 5 attempts (cannot undo restriction)
As I said earlier, Vodafone sent me a code and the instruction to enter it. I tried it twice, Vodafone then sent me another code, entered that code twice. Today I entered another code and the display now says "cannot undo restriction".
My understanding is that the only way to undo the restriction now is to connect to a PC using a cable connection.
cheers
