When I take a corner or turn right, there is a screeching or squeaking sound that is continuous till steering is straight ahead again or turned left. It sounds something like when cornering at high speed, but the only problem is that this happens when i am doing about 10 and it only happens when I am turning right or at roundabouts. Is this a problem with the diffs? Is also comes on and off. The last time I was at MJ Fews for a service, I can't reproduce it. I am scheduled into replace the steering rack early Jan 08, so if I know what this problem is, I can at least point it to them.
Anyone have similar problem or know what this is? TDV6 SE

This may be unrelated but worth them having a look.
I had a similar screeching sound when turning (heard at low speed) whilst in France in the summer. Thought it was dirt in the brakes somewhere. Loading one side of the D3 when turning seemed to trigger it.
Screeching then started to be there all the time and was coming from a seized EPB mechanism. Sounded like metal on metal when moving at walking pace, then high pitched squeal at higher speed.
As I said, might be nothing like the problem I had, but the EPB is worth a look at.
You probably picked up some grit, a stone or some such at the weekend. Maybe something is stuck under the D3 and is catching when you turn.
Try a good blast with a jet wash / powerful hose around each wheel for a while. Inside and outside.

I'll try cleaning the car and wheels later today Simon. The last time i was at MJ Few, I complained about EPB screeching and they have cleaned the EPB, but after picking up the car and about 20 miles later, the sound came again. I think the sound is what you have decribed. Only problem is that I can't always reproduce it. It comes and go. TDV6 SE

It came and went on mine too. For a while I could get it to stop if I had the EPB on and reversed - ie D3 wont move but it strained the against the brake. Would stop for a while, then start again.
Also try reversing a bit, it may just be a stone stuck in the brakes and reversing will spit it out.

Could be a CV joint. Check the front driveshafts.

Gareth, I'll ask the dealer to help check. I don't really know what to look out for with the CV joint.
Thanks again guys! TDV6 SE

Finally sorted by TH White in Swindon. This on and off problem/noise has been bugging me for some time now and it's really difficult to reproduce.
Some retainer clip or spring loaded thingy in the EPB on the off side rear wheel that was holding the pads was broken causing the pads to rub against the disc. We could see the pads well worn out on the edge.
Thank you Martin and Paul from TH White who finally sorted this out. TDV6 SE
