Noise from Rear

Hi, my Discovery is about 18 months old and apart from a wiring problem on the suspension last year has been fine. Lately I have noticed a noise coming from the nearside rear when going over certain bumps.... there is a cobbled streets near my workplace which seems to be the worst..... I can only describe it as a clunking noise or a hollow noise which seems to be coming from the wheel or suspension area. I have looked underneath and checked the wheel out and all seems okay.

Suggestions?

Didn't know we had any of these left in the Shire Shocked

Check the large weights behind the bumper first, see if they are hitting something.

Mine's in on Monday for this - will let you know. Am sure it's the rear ARB bushes - as it sounds just like when the front ones went. John

They are the things the anti roll bar run through so they don't fall off Wink

A bracket lines with a rubber bush essentially.

Have you checked the 3rd row seats? I had a similar rumbling rattle going over bumbs and I eventually traced it to loose hinge mechanisms on the back rows seats when stowed. Someone else on here Thumbs Up has some ingenous photos showing a quick fix using pieces of rubber floor mat to repalce the worn gaskets. However, i complained to my stealer and they produced a whole new seat base under warranty. Worth a wee look. Thumbs Up

2nd row seat base catches can also foul the third row rubber floor mat too and cause a rattle.

But only if you have this fitted of course Thumbs Up

Just got my MOT done a week past Fri - passed no probs - cos I let my LR dealer do it.
Well, it's got to pass then hasn't it?

But I got an advisory notice that the bushes would need doing - not bad for first set at 95k
And yes, I do get a clunking over rough stuff.

Weights at rear

I had a noise that I traced to a loose spare wheel! What exactly is the purpose of those big weights and why are they free to swing? Is it something to do with resonance in the chassis?
