Re Noise while I am driving

Sorry if this is in the wrong place or this has been covered. I have searched for hours without much success.
I have 2005/05 D3. 2.7
Ive had new turbo, EGR valves deleted, full service, cam belts, diff etc oil and mega flush gearbox service.
Before it went in, it made a funny noise when I was travelling at 50mph, when I backed off the accelerator it would stop and accelerate a bit the noise came back. I could make the noise go on and off by manipulating the accelerator.
I was told it could be turbo or gearbox's, Turbo was knackered anyway and gearbox was due service. So had them done.
The noise is much better but still there.
To me, the noise sounds like scraping. Only does it in gear between 1500 to 2000rpm. ( I guess under load)
Sorry I cannot describe it very well.

Does anyone know what this could be? It is booked back into the garage next week. (no doubt another big bill)
Thank You
James

I have a noise on my D4 which I can get in the same instance as yours.
However dealer says it’s not there.
I think it’s the transfer box on mine.
I would say it’s a thrum thrum noise which is present when under load/ pulling along, not coasting/ no throttle.

But mine only does it in gear (D) when revs are between 1500 to 2000?
Thanks
James

Mine is more of a humming/whistle noise. It makes it either decelerating or accelerating. I cant make the noise change. It starts around 30mph. Think it could be tires? Both front hubs were replaced within the last year also
