I have a Canadian Spec. 2006 HSE with this thing. I assumed it contained the radio attenae so I left it alone. I know for a fact that it isn't for Sat. radio as the previous owner used a stand alone for that. The "knobbly" bit is a little loose from being smacked on some low clearances. Easy to remove? Double sided tape?

I removed most of the wart last night. It was held on by double sided tape that was slowly losing it's grip. Snipped two wires leading into it and slid it off. I am left with a small disc (1 1/2" diameter) that looks like it is bolted through the roof. The big plastic wart is sitting on top of the tool box now.

If the new D4's use bluetooth why has the sharks fin returned for those?
Excellent question. I saw a D4 with the wart as well. Is LR still providing a phone cradle in the D4?

See Slimer's post a little below - it houses a digital radio antenna. D4s (and later D3s) use only Bluetooth - no cradle. Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana

Digital radio = Satellite Radio?
This would make sense. In my 06 HSE it housed the phone att. and now it is for satellite radio?

I would like to do some experiments with one of these antennas. If anyone has/intends removing one, please throw it my way rather than in the skip. Complete with the coaxial connectors if possible. A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. If I buy a DAB radio (FM transmitter type - ie transmits to FM preset) is there an antenna to connect to that will give better reception?
