No power under 2k (NOT EGR's) [SOLVED]

I know this has been done to death and it's usually down to the one or both of the EGR's.

Mine is an 06 and the EGR's have been fully blanked.

I unplugged the MAF and there was an instant improvement but lots of smoke towing up hills, its fine with no trailer on or when towing on the flat.

With the MAF plugged in no smoke and pulls fine over 2k.

I'm suspecting the MAF, MAP or both.

Thanks

Mick

Possible intercooler pipe split. Not enough boost build up low down. Higher up it may be enough pressure to compensate.

Solved it.

Could possibly one of two things or a combination of both.

I pulled the MAP sensor and it was clogged up with the black sticky goo that builds up in the manifold so ceaned that out with carb cleaner.

I also cleaned the MAF but whilst removing the intake pipe that runs across the top of the rad it seemed to come away from the joint on the left hand side a little to easily so I'm not sure if it was seated correctly.

If not it would explain the issue as the MAF would be giving a lower than actual reading until there was enough suction to pull the pipe into place. That's my theory anyway.

Now pulls from idle with no sudden acceleration just smooth throughout the rev range.
