Spat some alternator bolts out somewhere on the A592 between Newby Bridge and Windermere.
Guess my surprise when I found out I only had roadside assistance and no garage could fit me in.
£119 to upgrade then £2.50 a mile for every mile over 50 to get home. That will be another £110 sir, have a nice day D4 MY15 SE TECH

First truck took me to Lancaster services then this guy turned up.
He said how heavy is this 2 tonne. No I said closer to 3. To which he gave me a "look" and said "well I'm here now let's get it on and see what happens"
Then to top it all off I had to pull the EPB cable to get it off the f g thing D4 MY15 SE TECH

Sorry Andy.... if you need a hug come on down to one of our hug ins!
I do feel your pain and hope that it's repaired asap cheaply....
As an aside I had one of my most unusual potentially life changing experiences in a pub in Liverpool... my head of HR for the firm I work for is French and a very camp gay.... brilliant laugh and imagine if you can, a little fat French Graham Norton...he was meeting an 'informant' who was going to tell him about a local scam that was going down within our business....unfortunately he decided he needed some hired muscle ( think middle aged fat guy) so asked me to go with him...
We turned up at this very interesting 'slag' pub and I was driving my 3 day old Disco.... in the car park as I arrived a car with 3 yoofs was doing donuts...clearly stolen it then blasted out past us onto the main road.
Got out and walked to the main bar.... like a Western it all went silent as we walked in...the place was packed and you could see everyone thinking ' what's that gay bloke doing with the old bill?'
The silence continued ...it was at this time I noticed a man sitting at the bar eating chips with his knife....unfortunately it wasn't a normal cutlery knife but a monster dagger type knife and he was stabbing his chips and eating them that way.... just looking at us!! never felt more exposed in my life!
Anyway it all passed off ok and I'm still here to live the tale! Interesting place!

I got stranded 2500km away from home...
But just 15km from my second home... So I put the car in the garage and started some trial and error testing to find out what could be wrong.
Rental car, car ambulance, down to the main dealer in Faro... Needed an alternator... Took the old one home.
Turned out the contact carbon stifts were worn [ and a bearing, but that could have survived some thousands km's extra ].
Andy... if it makes you feel better. I had the misfortune of watching my 'new' Disco being taken away on the back of a truck the day I bought it!!! (I kept that quiet at the time... along with my latest dealer issue when they accidentally smashed my door mirror!)
One of the first things I did on picking it up was to fill up the tank and take it to 'show off' to a friend and fellow forum member 'Digsy'. The only problem was that the fuel filter had been changed prior to me picking it up and the thread was faulty resulting in copious amounts of diesel leaking all over Digsy's drive. As you slide down the banister of life
