I had a similar issue last week but in different circumstances. Highway cruising with 1800kg camper on the back, using cruise control and on a long uphill, lost power as Maddison describes. Engine runs but will not rev hard and no or very little drive.
Switch off, start again and all OK.
Same thing happened twice more so I stopped using cruise and used command control for uphill sections and no more problems.
I'm sure it is an overheating issue with auto or transfer box. The auto does not change down as quickly as I would like when towing and tends to labour. I have never had the issue when not towing.
Due for service next month so it will be interesting to see if any fault codes are present.
My BAS interface shows no codes but this only covers engine ECU so I assume the transmission ECU is separate.  2005 SE TDV6, BAS remap; Black Widow drawer system; GME 3440 UHF; TPMS; Traxide dual battery controller; Cooper AT3's ; Mitchell Bros tow hitch;
